Tree=Paper

70% of Sweden’s land area is covered by forest. The work was made in sustainable forests in Dalarna County, Sweden. After the logging process, the trees are used to produce paper and wood based products.

Paper is used for many different purposes but the paper itself is secondary to the writing or images layered on top. Paper is currency, packaging and a part of our everyday lives. Plainly, it is a moist blend of pulp cultivated from trees, but when dried, it can be used to create new meaning.

‘Tree = paper’ considers the life cycle of trees used for paper production. It is the paradox of photographing a tree out of appreciation and printing it out on a material that represents its death.
